Privacy Policy

Maine Public Employees Retirement System (“MainePERS”) operates www.mainepers.org and www.mainestart.org (the “Sites”). This page informs you of our policy regarding the collection and use of information we receive from users of the Sites. We use this information only for providing services to you and improving the Sites. By using either of the Sites, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

What data we collect and why we collect it

Contact forms

When you complete a contact form, we collect information entered on the form, including address, phone number, and email address. We use this information to provide services to you.

Cookies

The Sites use cookies to store information about user activities to help us understand how the Sites are used so that we can improve our services. 

Google Analytics

We use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about use of the Sites. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit the Sites, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to the Sites. We use the information we get from Google Analytics only to improve the Sites. Google Analytics collects information about your device, browser, geography, search information, pages visited and browsing history. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit the Sites, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to the Sites is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy.

WP Engine

We use WP Engine to host and manage the Sites.  WP Engine gathers information automatically through your use of the Sites to analyze trends in the aggregate and administer the Sites. This information may include internet protocol addresses, browser type, internet service provider, referring or exit pages, the files viewed on the Sites, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. WP Engine uses analytical software to help it understand this information. This software sends information to its licensor. Other sites and companies may also use this software. As a result, the licensor may collect information that, when aggregated by them, allows them to identify you individually. We have no responsibility for this collection and use.
